Curtiss P-40 Warhawk

P-40

Made famous by its service with the Flying Tigers in China, the P-40 was a better performer than many historians seem to remember. However, everyone remembers the shark's teeth, which were painted on the Tiger's Warhawks after they saw a photo of fighters of the RAF's 112 Squadron wearing them in North Africa. The RAF pilots had, in turn, copied the sharks teeth from Me110 pilots of ZG76 who had, apparently, copied them from actual sharks. I believe one of the sharks is now suing for copyright infringement.
