Nakajima Ki-84


The Ki-84 Hayate, or "Frank" to the allies, was one of the few Japanese fighters that could match the performance of late war allied fighters like the Mustang. Hayate translates more or less into "Gale", or "Hurricane", or some other kind of windy storm. The Japanese liked to name airplanes after fearsome storms. You'd find bad weather pretty scary, too, if your house was made of cardboard...
